The project's story
Located on the Reichman University campus in Herzliya,
the Center for Brain Sciences is part of the future campus
development, positioned along the edge of the planned central
plaza, opposite the existing medical faculty building. The
plan is conceived as two distinct volumes, echoing the two
hemispheres of the brain, organized around a central atrium,
while a spiraling façade element visually ties them together. At
ground level, the building extends the plaza inward, creating a continuous public space where the lobby, lounge, and auditorium flow into one another. The atrium brings natural light deep into the building and connects all levels, including a direct link down to the library on level minus one, which opens onto an inner garden. A continuous stairway runs through the atrium, encouraging movement and visual connectivity between floors. Around this central space, seminar rooms and research-support areas are arranged to support both
interaction and focused work. The upper floors house the laboratories, organized to support a range of research environments. Shared spaces are integrated throughout, encouraging collaboration between different disciplines- from neuroscience and AI to broader fields of brain research. The building’s continuous form and transparency reinforce this idea, creating an environment that brings people together and supports ongoing exchange, learning, and discovery.
